Reception: Thursday, March 8, 2012, 7–10 p.m.
Gallery 1313
School exhibitions often get overlooked, even though they may be brimming with new talent. For art writers it is a challenge to write about a group exhibition of works that have little to do with each other. The Toronto School of Art’s recent Nextus exhibition of works by graduating students was such a diverse collection of art works.
Instructor Angela Leach had the difficult challenge of installing all these works and making it look good. She is a practising artist herself, represented by Toronto’s Wynick/Tuck Gallery .
The reception was jam-packed with supporting family, faculty and friends. There was a generous assortment of food offerings which made the evening that much more pleasant.
There were a few congratulatory speeches. Angela was proud of her students and joked with them. The students were excited to share their art with all the visitors.
The exhibition continues till March 18 and is the first of several school exhibitions taking place this spring at Gallery 1313.
Coming soon: the OCAD UNIVERSITY thesis exhibition of sculpture and installation and Ryerson University’s Max Ex exhibition.

Do you have contact info for the artist who did the sculptures in your first shot?
I’m sure if you phoned the school 416-504-7910, they could have Kim Stanford (the artist) contact you.
