“When Brenda Parres, Director of the Arts and Events Gallery at First Canadian Place asked Edie Yeomans and myself to curate a show for their spring season we both agreed that we would like to feature the wonderfully seasoned artists that continue to contribute to the art world in Toronto.  Our opening provided these artists to invite their personal collectors, colleagues and family for an evening of reflection of their individual bodies of work.” – remarked curator Patti Cooke.

“Place” in its most fundamental sense locates the artist in the arena of his or her life and activity.

The artists exhibiting in this First Canadian Place Gallery exhibition, although diverse creatively, share at least common geography. Even when the work is abstract, the landscape can be seen as a pervasive inspirational force in the work of many of the artists represented here.

Finding the First Canadian Place Gallery can be challenging especially for first time visitors, it is challenging enough for some who has been there before. On the other hand, once you are inside, you feel very visible because of the large glass wall.

The crowd at the Opening Reception had a nice time walking from one artist to another with a glass of wine in their hand, enjoying the many different artistic styles and mediums on display.
