Leon Rooke was born in North Carolina he has made Canada his home for most of his long and outstanding career as a writer of short stories and fiction. In recent years he has gained recognition as an artist and the proud sponsor of The Paint Slam – the third annual to be held at Fran Hill Gallery, Saturday, July 14th, 2012. He works in a surprising array of materials from painting to collage to sculptural assemblages, often from found objects. The results are always startling.
