TorontoTransformed is a portrayal of Toronto that merges present day Toronto with yesteryear.

This series of photographic collages juxtaposes spontaneous photographs from 2008-2011 with record images from the City of Toronto Archives some of which are almost one hundred years old. Just as the ‘old’ images were originally captured with the photographic tools of the day, the current or ‘new’ images were captured with a digital camera.

So that the viewer may easily see changes in our city over decades, the combined photographs retain perspective, with reference points of old and new structures, establishments and roads. Photographs include iconic images. Change is observed in both historic and rejuvenated neighbourhoods such as the emerging arts district of Queen West.

These “Moments in Time” deal with memory loss – a prevalent issue today – experienced by the aging and their families. These images evoke memory.

The Opening Night Party will take place on Wednesday November 7th 2012 from 7-11pm at Steam Whistle Brewing at 255 Bremner Blvd or visit the brewery during all of November to see the exhibition.
