“Nothing evokes more storytelling and dreaming than boats. Each story touches our hearts. My excitement over boats is no doubt in my DNA as my Scottish surname “Murdoch” means Sea Warrior (probably Pirate!).

My enjoyment of working-class boats in Toronto Harbour – including tugboats, fireboats and icebreakers – reflects my past in the labour movement. Also close to my stories and my heart – and love of colour – are fishing boats on Lake Erie and canoes on Lake Winnipeg”. Jane Murdoch Adams
