CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS / Cut and Paste Exhibit at Project Gallery
Exhibition: August 22 – 28, 2013
Deadline: August 15th
Seeking submissions in any and all media for a contemporary art exhibition at Project Gallery called Cut and Paste. Accepting submissions in any media including but not limited to visual art, video, sculpture, installation, performance, music etc.
The show will feature works that embody the aesthetic of collage and related compositional elements; works that conceptually deal with assemblage, pastiche and the appropriation of different styles of design. Works are not limited to physical ‘cut and paste,’ rather the show aims to embrace the critical understanding that may be born out of the juxtaposition, manipulation and compilation of various isolated forms. The show will center on questions such as: What is the value aesthetically and otherwise of recontextualizing visual components in a transformative way? What is the effect of purposefully combining seemingly unrelated elements into one work? How do such elements unite to create alternate or contrasting understandings and discourses?
